Why I Love My Dad

Today, at church, we were looking throught the lost and found. My mom lost her glasses. So, we were going through all the stuff. While searching, my dad came across a Provo City Library book.

"You should return this to the library, you have been there before."

An Interview and a Parent Teacher Conference

As you all know, I have been out job hunting. After a certain interview last week, I replayed it to my kids as a Saturday Night Live sketch. It truly had some hilarious moments. I often wondered if the interviewer knew what job I was interviewing for and if they knew the job responsibilities. They were very kind, but it was very funny and easy to replay for the kiddo :)

Well, yesterday, I had a Saturday Night Live parent teacher conference. Seriously. I am not kidding.

Luke's teacher is about sixty or sixty-five. She is a very kind woman. Luke and I went into his classroom and found that her room was being vacuumed. I thought, "Well, now that we are here, he will probably move to another room." Yeah, no. That didn't happen. The teacher sat us down right in the center of the room, right in the center of the vacuuming. And she said NOTHING about the vacuuming.

For a few minutes I thought maybe I was the only one that could hear the vacuum. The teenage boy was using one of those old canister vacuums. The ones you carry on your back. At one point he was standing right by my head vacuuming UNDER MY FEET. I could see Luke's teacher's lips moving, but could hear nothing for most of the conference.

Good thing he is a good student and I don't need to wonder if she was saying bad things about his academics!!

Mowing the Lawn

The lawnmower has been taken away from me for the rest of the season. I can't mow the lawn again until next spring.

What kind of dad takes away the lawnmower???

Job Interview

I have hit the pavement trying to find a job.

Last Friday, I had the longest job interview of my entire career. It lasted about one hour. Crazy, I tell ya. But, the crazier part was at the end when they told me they planned to hire me for a WEEK. A week!! Who sits through an hour interview for a week of work!

It is at a great little hospital just down the street from my parents. I am covering for a dietitian who needs to have some surgery done. Legally, hospitals have to have a dietitian around everyday of the week. So, they just need my face and signature for a few days.

I have two more interviews lined up for this week. One is with WIC and the other is at BYU library. I would be an assistant to the manager of the receiving department. I personally would choose the WIC job, but if I work at BYU library, I would be in the same building with my brother, Josh!! How freakin' cool would that be?

Welcome to my day of random posts. Life has been crazy. We are happy and settling into our new life. We would appreciate your prayers right now on our behalf.

I will get better at posting--mostly because I love to see my own kids on-line.

Feeding the Ducks @ BYU

Kat, Luke and I visited the ducks at BYU. Ali was still in school. But, we missed her! The ducks will actually come and eat out of your hand. Kind of scary :)

Mowing the Lawn

I mow my parent's lawn when I need a physical outlet. I actually got asked to not mow the lawn so much! This was my challenge the last time. I couldn't figure out why Rufus was guarding the clipping's bag.
Oh, it is Oliver he is cornering in the bag!!! Silly animals. I had to wait to finish mowing the lawn until they finished their game.

Halloween 2008

We had a great Hallween this year. It is the first year I have ever had fun!! I actually dressed up, so maybe that is why I had fun :) I was a witch. I know, I know, I am a witch all the time!

Halloween Pumkins 2008

For the first time in, like, forever, we carved pumpkins. Papa helped us, cause he is the all-around pumpkin carving pro.
I have love being back home with my parents. I have remembered so many great memories from my childhood. Carving pumpkins brought back a hilarious memory. When I was young, 5 or 6, my dad would make a HUGE production out of carving pumpkins. He would take us to the store to pick the perfect pumpkin. Then, we would go home and take out paper and pencils to design the face. We would create glorious faces. And then we would hand them over to Dad and wait, anxiously, to see our pumpkin. Well, inevitably, our pumpkins would have triangles for the eyes, a triangle for the mouth and the same smile with one tooth. Seriously. I kid you not. By the time we turned 8, we would just draw our pumpkin face picture with triangles for the eyes, a triangle for the nose and a smile with one tooth.

Ward Halloween Party

We had a delightful time at the Edgemont 7th Ward Halloween Party. This was a cute little scarecrow we got a little crush on. Isn't he cute?
