Lunch with Ali

Today I went to check Ali out of school to go to lunch with Matt and myself. In the office I told the lady I was checking my daughter out for lunch. She quickly told me they don't allow such a thing. So, I quickly said, "Did I say lunch? I meant we have a family emergency." Why are people/schools so dumb. Why can't parents take their kids to lunch?
